Hotel photography: The LINE Hotel Washington DC

No detail is left unturned at The LINE Hotel, located in DC’s vibrant and eclectic neighborhood of Adams Morgan.

Housed inside a 110-year old historic neoclassical church, it’s the second of three LINE locations from Sydell Group (the LA flagship, and the last in Austin). Upon entering the lobby, your eyes are drawn to the pipe organ chandelier hanging from the 60 ft vaulted ceilings, built of salvaged pieces from the original church.

Each of the 220 bespoke guest rooms are inspired by the district, clean and modern with a slight hipster vibe. Considered design is evident in the parquet flooring, brass bed frames, custom light fixtures, stand-out textiles, and over 3,000 pieces of original artwork. 340 sq ft King rooms are outfitted with a micro-library curated by Idle Times Bookstore, solid oak desks to work from, an old-school radio sitting atop mismatched nightstands, and sweeping views of the nations capital. Plush top mattresses are made extra cozy with down comforters and pillows, but the true finishing touch is the signature yellow and black patterned throw which lies at the foot of each bed.

In the lobby of LINE DC is Café Spoken. Standing room only, their curated menu focuses on shared dishes inspired by Japanese tearooms. Whether you hope to order coffee and teas from the morning menu (try the Okinawa latte, an espresso sweetened with dark sugar syrup native to Okinawa, Japan), a Japanese breakfast bowl (filled with grilled fish, soft egg, rice, pickles, and herbs), omurice for dinner (a rare find in DC, despite it’s foodie scene), or a boozy chocolate chip cookie milkshake from the all-day drink menu, this small-plates venue is a one-stop shop.
