The importance of reef-safe sunscreen
Coastal living has taught us that it’s more important than ever to keep our environment as healthy as possible. We’ve always had a passion for protecting our oceans — from local beach cleanups, to donating to ocean conservation programs — and one way to make a positive impact is with a simple swap!
The next time you jet off on a tropical vacation, spend a weekend at the beach, go on a snorkeling adventure, or even update your daily skincare routine, reach for a reef-safe sunscreen!
What makes a sunscreen reef-safe and why is it so important?
Let’s dive in!
Hotel photography: The Alida Savannah, GA
Located on River St, The Alida — a Tribute Portfolio Hotel and part of the Marriott Bonvoy program — is our favorite boutique hotel in Savannah! Situated in the Plant Riverside District, endless entertainment is just steps away. Inside, exposed brick and brass accents are a nod to the area’s industrial roots, while chic guest rooms compliment the creative design abundant in every corner.
Hotel photography: The LINE Hotel Washington DC
No detail is left unturned at The LINE Hotel, located in DC’s vibrant and eclectic neighborhood of Adams Morgan. Housed inside a 110-year old historic neoclassical church, it’s the second of three LINE locations from Sydell Group (the LA flagship, and the last in Austin). Upon entering the lobby, your eyes are drawn to the pipe organ chandelier hanging from the 60 ft vaulted ceilings, built of salvaged pieces from the original church.
Product photography for Jungmaven: hemp clothing
Jungmaven’s clothing is what first comes to mind when we think of a summer wardrobe
Rooted in simplicity and sustainability, the mission of Jungmaven is to raise awareness about the many uses of hemp, and the ways in which its regenerative qualities make it an ideal alternative to other options that are less considerate of our planet.
Cultivated with a low impact on the environment, hemp requires no irrigation, pesticides, synthetic fibers, or GMO seeds. In fact, this restorative phyto-mediation plant restores balance in the environment by cleaning the soil, water, and air. By absorbing more carbon dioxide from the air than other types of trees and plants, it even has the potential to mitigate climate change. A small but mighty act, by choosing hemp clothing you’re making a conscious choice to help heal the planet!
Why you should stop geo-tagging your travel destinations on Instagram
It’s not unusual to find inspiration for our travels on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest. We see travel bloggers, influencers, and friends posting beautiful destinations and follow the geo-tags to see how we might be able to experience it for ourselves.
While geo-tagging can seem like an innocent action, it can cause significant damage when not done responsibly.
We’re here to share our love of travel with you, to encourage sustainability, to inspire you with our visuals and our words, and to share our recommendations through our in-depth travel guides. But, being dedicated to eco-tourism, occasionally there are places that shouldn’t be specifically shared…
